OK, for the first time in my life - ever - I don't think I will be voting. I am at a loss. I didn't want to make this blog political, but I just have to vent and cry and be sad about this for a minute. I have always cherished my privilege to vote. I have always wanted to honor those who fought for my right to vote by doing so. But honest to Pete, I am baffled this time. I will pray for my country, and my world, and ultimately I will pray for whoever is elected. Lord please have mercy on us. We are fallen, and sinful and lost without you. We need you. We need you. We need you. Please don't leave us to suffer the consequences of our mistakes, but in your grace and mercy help us. We NEED You. We need YOU.

Heather... I'm not the happiest with the options either but voting for what I see as the "lesser of two evils".
Heather, I am so there. I have wrestled with this for a long time now. I have "made up my mind" more times than I can count, and I'm still left confused about what to do. I struggle so much with being expected to vote for anyone that I don't fully support. I personally am no longer satisfied with the lesser of two evils; the American people deserve better than that when choosing who will essentially run our country. It's ridiculous to realize that our "democracy" really gives us no choice. I am always saying that the reason why we are in the predicament we are in (with only 2 parties; both of which the majority of people are completely disenchanted) is because people decided to start voting for their "team" in order to win rather than voting for their ideals. I've considered writing in because there is someone who I would fully support that is no longer running, but then I would be accused of "throwing my vote away". But, I have to decide whether it's about winning for my party (whatever that may be)or voting my conscience and ideals. Essentially we have no true right to vote because it's all based on manipulation. How will things change unless we change them for ourselves? That's just my thought process anyways...
Em, I've had the same thought process and have considered writing in as well. I know it wouldn't ultimately change anything, but my conscience would be clear. Maybe we should all just write in, "Jesus" hehe(:
Haha! At least we know that He is the one who is really in charge! :)
PLease go cast a vote for unborn baby's rights and man/woman marriages. You may not like him but the alternative is really scary.
Hi -
Weighing in on this ... I believe that voting is a right ... but not an obligation. There will never be a savior on Capitol Hill and I find that Christians tend to give way too much weight to the ability for the political process to change much of anything ... unfortunately, morals and values cannot be legislated and come from the hearts of man --- and power corrupts ... having a "pro-life" candidate in place along with "conservative" judges on the Supreme Court and still nothing changed ... I believe we live in an age where people are TOO involved in the gov't of this world. I am fine with people choosing to vote --- but I for one am consciously and very purposefully not taking part in the process. I do not believe in it. (I also think that a sovereign God can work with whatever outcome.)
Jesus for President.

Amen, Tara! I echo everything you've said. We have made voting such a burden because of our "right" to take part. If we live in fear of a presidential outcome and what the government will do our fears will take over our lives because our hope was never meant to be found in such things. Thanks for the encouraging thoughts!
I found this very interesting and just thought I'd pass it along.

Not voting with you. Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil and I just can't do it. People are really, really offended when they hear me say that.
